Orange for Orangutan Day 2016
Orangutans are in a critical state as deforestation destroys their habitat for human activities such as oil-palm plantations, illegal logging, acacia plantations and mining. They need your help more than ever before.
Wednesday 9th November 2016 is Orange for Orangutan Day, organised by the London based Orangutan Foundation. It's part of Orangutan Awareness Week, which runs from 7 to 13 November 2016. The week aims to drawn attention to the challenges faced by orangutans and their rainforest home.
There's a fundraising pack, full of ideas - click here to download it. Help raise funds for the Orangutan Foundation and you'll help them with habitat protection and reforestation; orangutan relocation and release; education, and the development of sustainable livelihoods.
On Wednesday 9th November, please wear orange for orangutans. Bake a cake and enter the ‘The Great Orangutan Bake Off’ competition. All you have to do is send a photo of your "Orangutan and the Rainforest" inspired cake to firstname.lastname@example.org with your contact details and age. The deadline is 11 Nov 2016.
