Sir David Attenborough is voicing a new series coming out on Friday 5 April 2019 on Netflix.
Called “Our Planet”, it will stream its amazing footage and message about the human impacts on the natural world across 190 countries.
It’s hoped ONE BILLION people will watch it. That’s one in 7 people around the world (give or take a few).
The programme will focus heavily on conservation efforts, to raise awareness about climate change.
As more and more people are out of touch with the natural world, Sir David told the Duke of Cambridge that it is vital to recognise that every breath of air we breathe, every mouthful of food comes from the natural world.
If we damage the natural world, we damage ourselves. The essential part of human life is a healthy planet and healthy ecosystem. Sir David hopes the programme will make it easy for everyone around the world to understand the issues and enable people worldwide to connect with nature and feel a shared responsibility for it.
Some of the world’s best film-makers and conservationists have created the 8 part series over an incredible 3,500 days.
Our Planet has been created for Netflix in collaboration with WWF and Silverback Films. The director Alastair Fothergill was creator of the Planet Earth and Blue Planet series. Sir David will voice the series.
WWF says on their website (and I quote):
We are the first generation that knows we are destroying the world, and we could be the last that can do anything about it. Our Planet will inspire people all over the world to understand nature and the challenges it faces like never before. Together we can reverse the damage and restore nature.
